Is this group for visually impaired or blind people only?
No. The intial members had different visual disabilities withvarying degrees of impairment. These two factors enabled the group to realize that every individual has his/her own ways to compensate for deficits as well as a duty to share those ways to enhance the quality of life of others. Therefore, we thought that the common domain of a disability and the goal of becoming employed are sufficient ingredients to open our group to any disabled person. [top]
Do I have to be a job seeker to interact with them?
No. In fact, every time that we had a speaker we learned that their guidance and experience were great contributions to our job seeking efforts. Therefore, we welcome anybody who has skills, experience, and assets that they
wish to share with us. [top]
Do I have to be a member to benefit?
No. This web blog will continually grow and contain information designed to assist people with job seeking skills, and will give information about available resources to people with dis abilities.[top]
Do I have to pay to join?
As of right now, there is no fixed membership fee in place, but we are welcoming small contributions to promote our ideas of seminars and activities that may have some cost.[top]
What else could a group of job seekers need in their group to be strong?
One essential ingredient that we foresee for the group is the participation of already employed disabled people. Their job is to keep the flame of the job seekers alive. We are hoping for their sharing of: how they got their job, what in their opinion helped them the most to get their job, how they coped with accommodation needs, etc.
We are also hoping for volunteers who will assist us with things that we may have trouble with because of accessibility or other issues.[top]
